Phoebe Flounce

Phoebe Flounce

I am just getting a chance to write up this post about the Phoebe Flounce that I tested a few months back. This is an additional option to the Phoebe Collection available at Pattern Union, and indie pattern company in Australia. There are a few different pieces that can be added such as a top, skirt, pants, pockets, bibs, all of which create so many different looks.

I created my Phoebe flounce with the same fabric I did for the Phoebe Maxi skirt. The fabric I used is from the Robert Kaufman Waterford linen collection. There are four neutral colors in this collection if you are looking for a nice weight 100% linen fabric. Besides the fabric, I need a small amount of interfacing as well as 1″ elastic and five 1/2″ buttons.

Sewing this top was a breeze. There are some really nice details to this top that can be easily overlooked. One is a placket with rouleau loops and buttons for the closure. The bottom has an elastic band which is a cute finish. In addition, there is a necktie to give a little extra privacy to the opening at the top of the shirt.

There is an option to add the top to the skirt to make a dress, but I love my maxi skirt so much, I decided to keep them separate. I also made my top without the flounce. As you can see, the combination of the phoebe flounce top and maxi skirt appears to look like a dress. You can wear these together or separate them to create so many different looks.
