Instagram Sewing Challenge

McCall's 7727

There is another sewing challenge I am so excited to be joining. The #BHMPatternDesigners challenge on Instagram. I came across the challenge from Natural Dane’s YouTube video, and thought this would be fun. During the month of February, you can make a garment from a pattern that was designed by an African American. Then showcase it on Instagram with the hashtag shown above. A few winners will be selected and prizes will be issued. Be sure to check out the video to learn all about the rules and to see a list of some of the African American pattern designers. I was excited to learn about some African American pattern designers that I have never heard of.

McCall's 7727

After looking through the patterns, I finally settled on McCall’s 7727. The designer for this pattern is Khaliah Ali. It is a super cute shirt dress that sports a high low hem. The more I looked at this pattern, the more I could envision a beautiful shirt dress. I am still undecided on the fabric, but my top choices are a nice Ankara print or a solid that will look great with my complexion. My plans are to finalize a fabric this week so I can get it ordered and get started. I can’t wait to share the finished piece. If you know of any interesting sewing challenge going on, please comment below and share them with me.
